Therapy dogs are pets who have a gentle nature and have been assessed to be able to provide comfort for children and adults.
They are trained to accompany their owners to facilities such as schools, universities and hospitals. Studies have found that interaction with therapy dogs can boost morale and help relieve stress, making a huge difference in the lives of everyone they meet.
The therapy dogs and volunteers visiting the city campus are registered and insured with Therapy Dogs Nationwide and the coach lane visits are registered and insured with Pets as Therapy. The visits are risk assessed and every time there is a visit there will be signage up in the area to ensure that anyone with allergies are aware of the dogs in the area.
Here at NSU we are lucky to have regular visits from a few therapy dogs and their owners who come to the Students’ Union building on city campus every 4 weeks and Coach Lane West every 2 weeks.
To find out when they will be visiting next please visit our events page at https://mynsu.co.uk/events
